Sustainability Policy

Alvin H. Butz, Inc. has embraced the U.S. Green Building Council’s quest to transform the way buildings are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy and prosperous environment that improves quality of life. Butz has taken a proactive position in the pursuit of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) training, development and implementation. Butz’s senior leaders have been innovators in developing and adapting construction management principles to facilitate the LEED® process into its unique CM approach. Butz’s innovations and approach have created a very seamless process; aiding designers and owners in their request for sustainable buildings and a desired LEED rating.

Butz currently has 20 LEED Accredited Professionals on staff and Butz is consistently ranked among Engineering News Record’s Top 50 Green Contractors in the U.S.

Sustainable Construction Policy Elements:

• Provide sustainable construction principles training, and LEED Accredited Professional training and certification resources to all project management personnel.
• Continue the firm’s tradition of leadership and innovation in CM systems that support designers and owners in their quest for sustainable and LEED certified buildings.
• Incorporate fundamental sustainable construction techniques into every one of the firm’s projects
• Work with our subcontractors to promote and foster sustainable construction techniques and innovations on all the firm’s projects.
• Continue current and foster new daily business practices that promote sustainability, such as:
  • Building Information Modeling
  • Electronic meeting formats
  • Electronic project FTP sites
  • Building systems mock-ups
  • Electronic project close-out documentation
  • Waste segregation and recycling
  • Community service and support
