Eat, Meet and Greet Construction Trades Information Fair hosted by Alvin H. Butz, Inc., Lehigh Valley Union Building and Construction Trades Council, Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, Inc. and PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley

Allentown, PA, April 14, 2014 . . . Alvin H. Butz, Inc., in cooperation with the Lehigh Valley Union Building and Construction Trades Council, Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, Inc., and PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley, announces an EAT, MEET AND GREET CONSTRUCTION TRADES INFORMATION FAIR on April 16, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley, 555 Union Boulevard, Allentown, PA 18109.

The Eat, Meet and Greet Construction Trades Information Fair will provide an opportunity for job seekers to meet with local representatives of the Lehigh Valley Union Building and Construction Trades Council to learn about apprenticeships, training and much more. Workshops on opportunities within the trades, resumé preparation, job-search techniques, interviewing skills, career pathways, and job and labor market data will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Attendees will learn about jobs similar to opportunities at PPL Center and other construction projects leading to career pathways in highly-skilled, high-wage jobs throughout Pennsylvania. PA CareerLink® Lehigh Valley's Career Resource Center will be open and staffed for registration on JobGatewaySM, Pennsylvania's on-line job matching system.

The event provides an opportunity to get your foot in the door of apprenticeship programs that lead to high-wage, high-demand careers in construction.

"We need qualified workers in the skilled trades to continue to build the Lehigh Valley. The Information Fair provides an opportunity to learn more about apprenticeships, training, and requirements for high-demand skilled-trades jobs," says Greg Butz, President and CEO, Alvin H. Butz, Inc.

Representatives from up to 20 Lehigh Valley Building Trades will be present to discuss the career pathways and skills needed to work in the construction and related industries.

"The Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, Inc. focuses on supporting employers within Lehigh Valley's targeted industry clusters that provide employment opportunities with above average wages and career pathways. It's all about jobs and we are working to increase the pipeline of workers entering the skilled trades. Since the pathway to a gold collar job is through skills training and technical education, we are proud to host the Eat, Meet and Greet Information Fair to showcase skilled trades occupations and the training needed to get employed in these high-wage occupations," says Nancy Dischinat, Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Workforce Investment Board, Inc.
