Alvin H. Butz, Inc. Announces Expansion of their Corporate Headquarters in
Allentown, PA, December 8, 2011 . . . Alvin H. Butz, Inc. announces plans to expand their corporate headquarters located at 840 Hamilton Street with the purchase of the property located adjacent to their property at 824 and 830 Hamilton Street. The Butz family purchased the property to the east, and will build a 6-story, 50,000 square foot expansion that will include retail space on the first floor and Class A office space on the other five floors. The building will be designed by Roberson Butz Architects and built by Alvin H. Butz Inc. The firm intends to break ground by summer 2012 and plans to have space available for lease in early 2013.
The establishment of the Neighborhood Improvement Zone (NIZ) by Senator Pat Browne with support of House Representative Jennifer Mann was crucial to the decision to expand their current headquarters which is 90% occupied. The NIZ will allow Alvin H. Butz, Inc. to offer space for lease at rates that are well below market rates.
“We are very optimistic about the future of downtown and give an enormous amount of credit to Mayor Pawlowski for making the brilliant decision to put the Phantom’s Hockey Arena downtown,” says Greg L. Butz, president and CEO. “Because of our confidence in the success of the arena and the power of the NIZ we are proud to move forward with the expansion of the Butz Corporate Center. We look forward to being part of that transformational redevelopment project in the city.”
The Butz family hopes the NIZ, as well as the additional availability of high quality office space, will attract tenants looking to join in helping to revitalize downtown Allentown.
This month marks the five-year anniversary of Alvin H. Butz Inc.’s move to downtown. In December 2006, the company moved their South Whitehall Township headquarters into a new, 85,000 square foot, Class A office building demonstrating their commitment to the long-term growth and success of the City of Allentown. The Butz Corporate Center is 90% occupied.
“Our move into the downtown has been a very good decision for us on many levels,” says Butz. “Our employees have enjoyed the close proximity to restaurants and retail shops, and the sense of community and access to government organizations and firms we do business with has been incredibly beneficial.”
In addition to its prime downtown location, the expanded building will feature significant broadband capacity, competitive telephone access and underground utilities, beautiful architecture and design, and easy access to parking, public transportation and major highways. Butz will pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Certification.
