New Restaurant Opening in Butz Corporate Center

Allentown, PA, July 24, 2013 . . . Billy Kounoupis, owner of Billy's Downtown Diner in Bethlehem, PA, and Alvin H. Butz, Inc. announced the opening of a new restaurant in Allentown. Billy's Downtown Diner will open in the former Sangria Restaurant space in September after minor renovations.

Kounoupis has been the chef, owner and operator of the award-winning Billy's Downtown Diner on East Broad Street in Bethlehem since 2000. The Diner has become a regional hotspot with a cult-like following - including patrons from outside the Lehigh Valley - due to its personal attention, great service, and delicious food.

"We always wanted to start a location in Allentown," says Kounoupis. "We just needed the right location and opportunity. We are really excited about being in the Butz building - it's a beautiful building that suits our needs and will allow us to expand our capacity. We feel our brand will complement the other great restaurants already here."

Billy's Allentown location will feature the same unique brand - Not Your Ordinary Diner - serving "classic fare with a flair" for breakfast and lunch seven days a week. Kounoupis hopes to expand service to dinner in the very near future. The downtown Allentown location will also have the capacity to host business banquets, meetings and events.

"We love our location and our regulars in Bethlehem. We are looking forward to expanding our brand and our unique offerings to Allentown and being part of the renaissance that is happening here," says Kounoupis. Billy's in Allentown will be the only diner in the region to boast al fresco dining in a family-friendly atmosphere. Kounoupis' latest venture will create approximately 25-50 jobs.

"Billy's Downtown Diner has enjoyed tremendous success in Bethlehem; much of that success is due to Billy's personal attention to the patrons and daily operations," says Greg L. Butz, President and CEO of Alvin H. Butz, Inc. "I am very impressed with the operation in Bethlehem and am thrilled to see something similar in Allentown."

Kounoupis, who will also serve as chef and operator of the Allentown location, is the author of Billy Cooks Like A Mother, "A Guide To Starting Your Own Business By Someone Who's Been There And Done That" and Billy's Downtown Diner, NOT Your Ordinary Cookbook. He is an entrepreneur, public speaker, Chef and former radio host of Diner Talk as well as International Editor-at-Large for Uber Chic Media, LLC. He is working on a third book, due out in August, title Playing with Food. His wife, Yanna, will also play a significant role in daily operations.

Sangria officially closed for business on Friday, July 19.
