Butz Family of Companies ranks among top contracting firms on ENR list
Allentown, PA, June 11, 2019 . . . The Butz Family of Companies, consisting of Alexander Building Construction Co., Alvin H. Butz, Inc. and Shoemaker Construction Co., is once again ranked on Engineering News-Record's (ENR) list of the Top 400 Contractors in 2019. The firm has been consistently ranked among the Top 400 contractors in the United States for more than 30 years and is the only firm headquartered in the Lehigh Valley to ever make the list.
"Our firm is proud to be ranked among the top contractors on ENR's list," said Greg L. Butz, President and CEO of the Butz Family of Companies (BFC). "Our continued growth and success is a direct reflection of the dedication to superior project delivery fostered by our project team and demonstrates that our collaborative approach continues to bring exceptional value to our clients."
ENR is the leading U.S. publication for the engineering and construction industry. It uses construction revenue from the previous year as its primary grading criteria, making the list a showcase of only the best and most sought-after construction management and general contracting firms.
BFC has grown consistently over the years, and with the 6th generation of the Butz family in line for leadership, the firm remains poised for future success and stability in the market with projects totaling over $1.4B currently under contract including projects with affiliate companies in New York and Florida.
BFC attributes its long-term success to its commitment to construction management as its primary construction approach. "We believe this approach along with our guiding philosophy to build on our tradition of excellence, allows us to best represent the client's needs and goals and to keep the project within budget and schedule," says, Butz.
BFC is committed to continuous innovation to find new solutions to building challenges and is able to streamline processes in order to produce higher quality, sustainable buildings. "One of the things that sets BFC apart and has brought us to compete not just with other local firms, but with larger international firms, is our ability to respond to market needs through increased use of technology and innovative approaches such as Lean Construction," says Butz. "Incorporating technology and Lean methodologies into our projects allows us to provide Target Value Design and help get the clients building online faster and more economically."
The Butz Family of Companies completed 37 projects in 2018 including projects in healthcare, education, entertainment, justice and hospitality. Additionally, BFC announced the certification of joint venture, Perryman Shoemaker, as a Minority Business Enterprise through the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Perryman Shoemaker is an established joint-venture of Perryman Building and Construction Services, a certified Minority Business Enterprise providing construction leadership since 1954, and Shoemaker Construction Co., a member of The Butz Family of Companies. The firms joined forces to help clients achieve their goals of inclusion and diversity. Together, Perryman Shoemaker aims to transform an industry that has historically been reluctant to change.
This past year The Butz Family of Companies celebrated the 175th anniversary for Alvin H. Butz, Inc., the 90th anniversary for Alexander Building Construction Co. and the 75th anniversary of Shoemaker Construction Co.
